Joining Requirements
All classes are taught at the Waukesha County Technical College (WCTC) in Pewaukee. Due to the interest of people wanting to join the fire service only as a fire fighter or EMT and not both, the Lisbon Fire Department has changed its requirements. The requirements were;

• Becoming a state certified firefighter and a EMT (This option is still a choice for new employees)

If you wish to be just a firefighter or EMT, these requirements must be met;

EMT Only-
    • EMT- Basic
    • EMT- Basic IV Tech
    • EMT- Intermediate ’99 (Optional)
    • EMT- Paramedic (Optional and some schooling costs covered by the fire department)

Firefighter Only-
    • Firefighter level I
    • Firefighter level II
    • Motor Pump Driver/Operator
    • Special Services Team Member

High School Employment

High School students that are going into their senior year may sign-up for the School-to-Work program. This program, inconjuction with Waukesha County Technical College (WCTC), trains students to become a state certifiablefirefighter and/or a licenseable EMT-Basic. Firefighting is offered in the fall and EMT is taught in the spring. Students will also be involved in Fire Department trainings on Tuesday nights. Any high school student can contact their school consouler or the fire department for more information.
